Adorned in a red lehenga, styling it with a messy bun, she stood there.
Each moment was heavy for her to let her self esteem down for someone else's wishes. A whirlwind of thoughts was trailing in her mind. She looked at her reflection in the mirror with her red eyes.
She cried internally for her helplessness. She stared at herself and then she pushed all of the negativity from her mind aside and with a heavy heart she adjusted her chunari on her head and prepared herself as a bride.
She didn't do any make-up not because she didn't liked it but because she didn't had any reason to do it. Make-up was something she really liked about being a girl, the art of decorating her face with beauty products, the art of being feminine each and every bit of it was her liking but now it seemed to her a long lost joy of life. She, the one who dreamed so much about her soulmate about how fictional her life going to be was now about to get married with someone whom she barely know. It was all strange to her.A feeling she wants to take off but she can't not at the verge of destroying her own career.
She was glowing under the lights. Her red lehenga was complimenting her skin tone and her big brown eyes were just adding the charm to her beauty. Her long hairs binded up in a loose messy bun with flicks coming out to her face everything about her was adding to her glow.
The lehenga she wore was the one with delicate embroidery, a work done with precise patience and hardwork. The minimal jewellery set she wore was giving her a royal look that was hard to get someone's eyes off.
!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡
He stood in front of the mirror and adjusted his sherwani. His face was expression less and his eyes were cold as ever. It was all clear to him that his decision will destroy two lives for forever but still he stuck to his decision because he will do whatever it takes to save his business and his reputation. A Man who never believed in marriage was about to bound himself in it. A Man for whom even blood relations are fake was about to engage his life with someone whom he never knew before and all this was just for his most important business deal.
After being dressed up he made a call to his manager checking on things whether everything is arranged or not. And then he made his leave to the temple.
...
He was standing in the mandap and was talking to someone on his phone.
Soon, a soft sound of jingling anklets reached to his ears and with each passing second its intensity was increasing and increasing .
His head was automatically drawn towards the owner of that sound, his words were mid spoken, his phone slipped down from his grip. His eyes glanced her figure from her head to toe and then froze at her face.
Their eyes met and then on realising what he was looking like he immediately closed his mouth and looked away from her.
Carrying her lehenga with her hands slowly she came to the mandap.
"वर वधु अपने स्थान पर प्रस्थान करे" the priest initiated.
"Pandit ji please complete these rituals as soon as possible". He said to the priest.
They both sat under the holy presence of their dieties and soon the priest initiated the wedding rituals.
कृप्या वर वधु फेरो के लिए अपने स्थान पर खड़े हो जाये
They stood for the phera, and as the priest recited the seven vows to them they encircled around the sacred fire.
With each vow they promised internally to themselves to destroy each other. Fire in their hearts was ignited more than the holy fire they were stepping around.
.
And then the seven vows of marriage that bound a couple into a forever relationship finally completed. Now, it was the time for adding a new set of responsibilities to each other's lives.
Now, it was the time for adorning her hairline with the vermillion of his name. Now, it was the time for slipping mangalsutra of his name in her neck . Now, it was the time to register the promises they made. Now, it was the time for the destiny to add a new line to their fate.
कृप्या वर वधू अपना स्थान ग्रहण करे |
अब वर वधू की मांग में सिन्दूर भरने की विधि आरंभ करे|
And with that they took there places. He hold the box of vermillion in his hand and opened it. He took a pinch of it and turned towards her.
Her heart was racing. A fear, a hope, a sign of losing the version of herself she worked years of. Her yes welled up she slightly leaned her head and then he filled her hairline with the vermillion.
It was exactly 12 a.m. of the 1st January when he filled vermillion in her hairline. Now, it was the start of the new year the loud sounds of fire crackers could be heard from the temple as if the whole world is taking part in their divine union, as if the new chapter of their life was destined to get started at the dawn of the new year.
Her eyes were closed, holding back her tears that were threating to spill over. While taking of his hand from her hairline a little vermillion fell at her nose.He then took the mangalsutra in his hand and forwarded his hands towards her neck. He leaned close to her to close the lock of the nuptial chain. His breath was fanning on her neck. She shivered slightly, eyes still closed and when his hands slightly touched her skin while locking the nuptial chain she felt goosebumps all over her body. She was shocked at her body's reaction and she quickly opened her eyes. He back off to his place and turn his gaze away from her.
विवाह संपूर्ण हुआ....
आज से आप दोनों पति पत्नी कहलाएंगे।
They looked at each other. His eyes were as cold as before. The anger was still lingering on his face but what changed was the pace of his heartbeat. When the priest declared her as his wife something within him felt happy,..it was a strange feeling for him and he didn't let it consume his mind for long.Meanwhile, her eyes were red her heart was racing. The words of the priest were still lingering in her eyes, she was angry but her face was pale, the thought of being someone's wife was just not settling up in her mind.
